Free calculators for counting days
Some immigration and tax rules come down to counting days. These three free tools do the counting for you, using the rule as it is written on the official government page, which each tool links to.
The calculators
- Schengen 90/180 Day CalculatorAdd your trips to see the days you have used in the last 180 days, the days you have left, the earliest date you can enter again and the longest stay from a planned entry date.
- US Naturalization Days CalculatorCount your days in the US and your trips abroad for Form N-400: physical presence (913 or 548 days), long trips and the earliest filing date under the 5-year and 3-year rules.
- US Substantial Presence Test CalculatorEnter your days in the US for three years and see the 31-day test and the 183-day test with the 1, 1/3 and 1/6 weighting.
What these tools are, and what they are not
- They run in your browser. The dates you type are not sent anywhere and are not saved. There are no cookies and no analytics. Once a page has loaded, it can work offline.
- They count days. They do not decide anything: only the border authorities, USCIS or the IRS can do that.
- Each tool shows its rule, the official page it comes from and the date we last checked it. Where we could not confirm a detail on an official page, we say so.
- They are not legal, tax or immigration advice. If you are close to a limit or your case is not simple, talk to a qualified professional. Read the disclaimer.
- KinLedger Tools is independent. It is not affiliated with the European Union, the US government or any other government.
Who makes them
We are a small independent shop that makes spreadsheets. We build these calculators to help people who are keeping track of trips and dates. Read more on the About page.
If you would rather keep your trips in a spreadsheet, with a planner and a trip log, we also make Excel and Google Sheets versions. You can find them in our Etsy shop. The calculators here stay free.
