Disclaimer
The calculators on this site are helping tools. They are not advice, and they do not decide anything.
Not a government site
KinLedger Tools is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or part of the European Union, the European Commission, any Schengen State, the US government, USCIS, the IRS or any other government or agency. Names of agencies and forms are used only to say which official rule a tool follows.
Not legal, tax or immigration advice
Nothing on this site is legal, tax, financial or immigration advice, and using it does not create any professional relationship. The results are counts of days from the dates you type, based on the rules as we understand them from the official pages listed on each tool page. They do not take your whole situation into account.
Only the authorities decide
- Schengen: the European Commission says its own calculator is a helping tool and does not give a right to stay. The border authorities of the country you enter decide how long you may stay.
- US naturalization: USCIS decides whether you are eligible. The calculator does not check good moral character, English, civics, residence in your state or district, or the other requirements.
- US tax residency: the IRS and your tax return decide. The calculator does not decide on exceptions such as exempt individuals, medical conditions or the closer connection exception.
Rules change
Laws, forms, policies and the way authorities apply them change. Each tool page shows the date we last checked its sources, but a page may be out of date by the time you read it. Check the official pages before you travel, file or rely on a result:
- European Commission: short-stay calculator
- USCIS: Form N-400 and the USCIS Policy Manual, Volume 12
- IRS: substantial presence test
No guarantee
We test the calculators carefully, but we cannot promise they are free of errors. The tools are provided as they are, without any warranty, and we are not responsible for decisions you take or for any loss that results from relying on them. If you are close to a limit, hold a visa, or have any doubt, talk to a qualified professional such as an immigration lawyer, an accredited representative or a tax adviser.
